Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, held high-level diplomatic talks in Amman with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan.
These meetings, held on the sidelines of the Arab League summit, solidified bilateral alliances and addressed current regional security challenges.
Alliance and stability alongside Bahrain
During his meeting with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the discussions centered on coordinating efforts to ensure peace and stability across the Arab world.
Both diplomats reviewed the evolution of the deep historical ties between Rabat and Manama, exploring new avenues for collaboration in sectors of mutual interest, following the guidelines set by Morocco’s foreign ministry.
Attending this working session were Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, and the director of Maghreb affairs at the ministry, Khalid Bencheikh.
Upcoming Joint Commission with Jordan
In a separate meeting, Bourita spoke with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi. The central topic was the preparation of the sixth session of the Morocco-Jordan High Joint Commission, coordinated by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and scheduled for later this year. Both ministers agreed on the need to design an ambitious agenda to elevate the bilateral relationship to a higher strategic level.
With both Jordan and Bahrain, the Moroccan representative shared the view that political consultation mechanisms must be strengthened to address the current complex geopolitical landscape.
Activities within the Arab League
These bilateral meetings followed Bourita’s participation in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the sessions of the 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, reinforcing Morocco’s active role in the region’s multilateral dialogue.
