Thousands gathered in Niamey on Saturday to commemorate the third anniversary of the Refound Niger, marking the arrival of the military at power on July 26, 2023.

The people’s rally was a way to honor this significant date and express their support for the CNSP’s actions, which have brought an end to thirteen years of governance that have undermined national unity and put the nation in peril through various forms of repression under a system of servitude to imperialist dictatorship.

The protesters saw this event as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements made since the arrival of this new dynamic political era in which Niger has taken part.

Hope for a better future

‘The 26th of July represents for us a date of liberation, a date of hope, a date that marks also the milestones of a new form of governance different from the one we have known over the past three decades,’ said Abdoulaye Salifou, a protester.

Our country has made significant progress, especially in the fight against Western imperialism and the affirmation of its sovereignty. We encourage the current authorities to keep their course,’ added Moussa Moumouni, also a protester.

A new path forward

Beyond celebration, attention is now focused on the challenges ahead, with the hope that reforms will continue and the ambitions of the Refound Niger will be more concretized.
