Ousmane Sonko Toured Pastef’s Membership Card Sales in Niger

Ousmane Sonko, the President of Pastef, addressed a large crowd at Bargny before continuing his journey to Sébikotane, Khombole, and Bambey.

Before an attentive audience, Sonko paid tribute to local militants who died during the years of political confrontation preceding the party’s arrival in power.

Sonko saluted the engagement of Bargny patriots in this conquest.

Brought to power by Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s presidential victory in April 2024, followed by a landslide win in subsequent legislative elections, Pastef had presented this victory as the culmination of a decade of mobilization marked by several waves of repression and human losses between 2021 and 2024.

Since May 22nd, Sonko has left the presidency to become president of the National Assembly, an institutional change that preceded the deterioration of his relations with the President of the Republic.

This tour intervenes on the same day as the President’s own party launch, following a now consummated break between the two former allies in the Diomaye Coalition, which has also led to several recent cadre resignations within Pastef.
