Prime minister al aminou lo confronts ousmane sonko directly

Recent statements by Ousmane Sonko at a press conference in Touba have reignited political friction between him and Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The Prime Minister quickly responded via social media, criticizing the instrumentalization of patriotism for political objectives. Sonko, for his part, has declared his intention to introduce motions of censure against the current government.
The political rivalry between Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo and his predecessor, Ousmane Sonko, appears to be intensifying. Shortly after the Pastef leader’s press briefing in Touba, where he vehemently criticized government policies and announced support for several censure motions in the National Assembly, the head of government chose to issue a rebuttal on the social media platform X.
Without explicitly naming Ousmane Sonko, Al Aminou Lo’s post was widely interpreted as a direct response to the former Prime Minister’s remarks. He stated, “To seek to monopolize patriotism for one camp is, precisely, to betray it.” This reaction followed Sonko’s comments made after the inauguration of Pastef’s headquarters in Touba. Addressing his party militants, the former government chief claimed to have received intelligence regarding declarations allegedly made by Al Aminou Lo during a private meeting.
Ousmane Sonko asserted, “Information reported to me indicates that Al Aminou Lo supposedly declared, during a confidential meeting, that his priority is now to enhance the business climate. This suggests a desire to meet the expectations of Western investors and economic partners.” The Pastef president characterized this strategic direction as a form of “sabotage” of the political agenda he champions. Consequently, he announced plans to file multiple motions of censure targeting the government led by Al Aminou Lo, intending, he explained, to impede its operations.
