During a recent Council of Ministers meeting, the head of government laid out firm instructions designed to enhance the nation’s preparedness for the upcoming wintering period. Several critical, immediate actions are slated for swift implementation to safeguard communities across Senegal.

A key focus of the Prime Minister’s mandate includes the strategic pre-positioning of intervention resources. Furthermore, an inter-ministerial simulation exercise is scheduled to take place before June 15, 2026. This crucial drill will rigorously test the responsiveness and coordination capabilities of state services in the face of potential natural disasters.

The government’s commitment to proactive flood management is evident in ongoing preparatory initiatives. These include extensive clearing of water evacuation networks, thorough inspection of drainage infrastructure, deployment of vital pumping equipment, and the development of detailed emergency response plans for areas identified as high-risk.
