A new chapter for Bénin as Romuald Wadagni officially sworn in as president.
The incoming head of state formally commenced his duties, personally escorting his predecessor, Patrice Talon, to his waiting vehicle.
The solemn ceremony unfolded within the prestigious confines of the Palais de la République, also known as La Marina. Prior to the public proceedings, outgoing President Patrice Talon and his designated successor, Romuald Wadagni, engaged in a private, one-on-one discussion.
During the formal event, Romuald Wadagni administered his oath before the Constitutional Court. This significant occasion drew a distinguished audience, including prominent figures from Bénin’s political landscape and representatives from approximately fifteen international delegations.
President Wadagni solemnly pledged to « uphold and defend the Constitution », acknowledging his readiness to « face the full force of the law in the event of perjury ».
