The political rivalry between the Pastef party and the Kiiraay movement shows no signs of slowing down. Without a neutral mediator to call a halt to the escalating exchanges, both sides continue to fire salvos of claims and counterclaims, each accusing the other of impropriety based on their own interpretations of events.
The latest volley comes from Dr Abdourahmane Diouf, who recently appeared on a primetime RS1 broadcast hosted by Migui Marième Ndiaye. During the interview, the Minister of Petroleum and Energy disclosed details about the secret funds amounting to 1.77 billion CFA francs that Ousmane Sonko had at his disposal during his time at the Prime Minister’s office. But Dr Diouf did not stop there.
He went on to assert that after exhausting the allocated political fund envelope, Sonko reportedly requested additional funds—a move that raises critical questions. Was the request approved? More importantly, the origin of this sensitive information remains unclear, as it appears only two individuals would have had access to such details: the President of the Republic and the Minister of Budget.
