Tchad uno committee wraps up 2024 development framework cycle
Strategic collaboration strengthens Tchad’s sustainable development goals
This week’s high-level gathering in N’Djamena brought together key stakeholders to assess the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2024-2026 and lay the groundwork for the next cycle, 2027-2030. Co-chaired by Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, the meeting underscored the nation’s commitment to inclusive growth and long-term resilience.
The session included representatives from the government, United Nations agencies, technical and financial partners, civil society, and the private sector. Together, they examined progress made under the current framework and identified priorities for the upcoming period.
Aligning national priorities with global development goals
In his address, Tahir Hamid Nguilin highlighted the robust partnership between Chad and the United Nations system. He emphasized the strategic importance of the meeting, noting that through the National Development Plan Tchad Connexion 2030, the government aims to build a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad. Key focus areas include human capital development, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.
Nguilin stressed the need for continued alignment between United Nations interventions and Chad’s national priorities. “This committee session demonstrates our shared commitment to maintaining strong synergy between UN programs and the country’s development agenda. By finalizing the 2026 action plans and setting the stage for 2027-2030, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind,” he stated.
Planning for the future: financing, inclusion, and resilience
Dr. François Batalingaya, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Chad, reflected on the achievements of the current cycle and outlined the path forward. “As we close this chapter, we are already looking ahead. The next UNSDCF for 2027-2030 will reflect a renewed ambition to meet the financing needs and aspirations of the Chadian people,” he said.
Discussions centered on lessons learned from the 2024-2026 cycle and strategic priorities for the future, including development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The new framework will be designed to align with the objectives of Tchad Connexion 2030, ensuring continuity and impact in the country’s sustainable development efforts.
