Babacar Bâ Critique Ousmane Sonko’s Fund Management, Highlights Paradox
Babacar Bâ, president of the Forum for Justiciables, has again criticized former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko over transparency in fund management. In a public statement, he emphasized that someone who presents himself today as an advocate for integrity and good governance had personally benefited from a fund exceeding 1.7 billion CFA francs during his tenure at the prime minister’s office. This amount was publicly acknowledged by Sonko.
Babacar Bâ finds it hard to accept this irony, having previously criticized what he called ‘black boxes’ of state funds. As current leader of Pastef, he has repeated denunciations against these same mechanisms that he now manages. The Forum for Justiciables coordinator has made fund management a recurring issue in recent months, repeatedly calling on the presidency, prime minister’s office, and national assembly to communicate fund amounts and accept judicial control.
Babacar Bâ describes Sénégal governance as ‘a true institutional masquerade.’ He appeals to the Senegalese people to wake up, unite, and take back their destiny in a language that contrasts with his usual technical tone on public finances management.
