The government of Bénin has expressed its solidarity with the people of Niger following the attacks that occurred near the Diori-Hamani international airport in Niamey on Thursday, 18 June 2026.

In an official statement released in Cotonou, Beninese authorities said they learned of these events with deep emotion and strongly condemned the assault on a strategic civilian infrastructure.

Bénin condemns with the utmost firmness this aggression, which targets a strategic civilian infrastructure and endangers the security of the populations,” the statement noted.

In response to the situation, the Beninese government offered its support to the people of Niger and to the country’s authorities, particularly President Abdourahamane Tiani.

The authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to the historic bonds of fraternity and friendship that unite the peoples of Bénin and Niger.
