Bénin senate leadership unveiled: Patrice Talon elected president
The Bénin Senate has officially inaugurated its first leadership team. During a pivotal session held this Thursday in Porto-Novo, senators elected the officials entrusted with steering the upper chamber of Parliament.
The landmark session in Porto-Novo solidified the Senate’s operational framework, aligning with constitutional mandates. Senators convened to finalize the leadership structure that will govern the chamber’s legislative agenda.
Senate leadership roles assigned
Following a transparent voting process, Patrice Talon was elected as President of the Senate. His responsibilities include overseeing legislative proceedings and ensuring the chamber’s smooth operation. Louis Vlavonou has been appointed Vice-President, serving as Talon’s right hand and stepping in during his absence.
Alassane Séidou has been named Rapporteur, tasked with documenting and presenting legislative reports. Adidjatou Mathys joins the team as Deputy Rapporteur, providing critical support in reviewing and summarizing key documents.
