The Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, observed the effectiveness of the electronic road infraction ticketing system just twelve hours after its official launch.
On August 1, 2026, at precisely midnight, a new era for road safety began in Burkina Faso with the activation of the nation’s advanced e-verbalisation system. Just twelve hours later, the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, personally witnessed the impressive efficacy of this digital enforcement technology for road infractions. His visit to the Videoprotection Supervision Centre at midday allowed him to observe the real-time process, accompanied by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology.
Minister Sana extended his commendation to the dedicated technical teams, highlighting their invaluable professionalism in successfully deploying this innovative solution. Within its initial half-day of operation, the system meticulously recorded a total of 1,099 infractions. These included common violations such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic lights, exceeding the legal speed limit, and using a mobile phone while driving. Notably, five individuals who committed these offenses have already settled their fines through the convenient FASO ARZEKA platform.
Mahamadou Sana unequivocally stated that these early outcomes underscore the system’s full operational readiness and reflect the government’s steadfast commitment to leveraging digital technologies to enhance road safety in Burkina Faso. The Ministry takes this opportunity to reiterate a crucial message: adherence to the traffic code remains the most effective method for preventing contraventions and ensuring safer roads for everyone.
