From France to Spain, England to Argentina, one of these four nations will lift the World Cup trophy this Sunday. Yet amidst the global frenzy, an unexpected victor has emerged—not a country, but an app. Since the tournament began, the three letters MPP (Mon Petit Prono) have been on everyone’s lips, from pubs to office break rooms. Behind this viral success lies a bold entrepreneurial journey launched by three colleagues.
How Mon Petit Prono works
Mon Petit Prono operates through leagues. Users create private leagues for friends, family, or colleagues, sending personalized links to invite participants. Before each match, players predict outcomes, the eventual tournament winner, and the top scorer. Real-time leaderboards keep the competition dynamic and engaging.
Who’s using it?
Industry reports indicate that Mon Petit Prono’s primary user base in 2026 includes business school students, corporate professionals, families, and close-knit friend groups.
Why has it become so popular?
To uncover the secret behind its success, we spoke with several users.
Marie participates in three leagues—with her family, friends, and coworkers. For her, it’s a cherished tradition: “I’ve done this since I was old enough to play. Before, we used a different app that no longer exists.” While each league has its own vibe, she highlights the workplace league as special: “It sparks conversations beyond work—something to bond over. Sometimes I feel bad for those who aren’t involved; we discuss it at least once or twice a day.”
Matia currently leads his league’s rankings. A seasoned app user, he credits its appeal to the fact that “you don’t need to know anything about football to win. Obviously, the more you watch, the better you can gauge a team’s true strength or luck against its opponent.” Camille praises the app’s intuitive design: “It’s incredibly user-friendly—even casual fans can navigate it with ease. You don’t need football expertise; the interface is straightforward.”
Daily engagement
All three users check the app multiple times daily, typically before and after matches. However, for some, it becomes an obsession. Marie admits she’s woken up at night several times to check scores: “Early in the tournament, when matches were played late at night, I’d feel anxious before bed—especially during the heatwave. I’d wake up at 4 AM, too hot to sleep, and think, ‘I can’t miss checking Mon Petit Prono.’ If my score was wrong, it’d keep me awake.”
Potential pitfalls
While the app fosters excitement, it also mirrors gambling risks. Though Mon Petit Prono doesn’t involve real-money bets, users can organize their own wager-based leagues. “Once money’s involved, it ruins the fun,” Marie notes, sharing alternatives: “In my friends’ league, the winner gets a barbecue with a beer pack.” Another concern is workplace tension: “People who don’t follow football get teased. I’m a sore loser, so it stresses me out,” she adds.
The story behind Mon Petit Prono
Mon Petit Prono’s origins trace back to 2011 as Mon Petit Gazon, born from three colleagues’ shared passion for football: Martin Jaglin, Benjamin Fouquet, and Grégory Rota. Frustrated by a dying sports media site they used for bets, they took a gamble—literally—buying it without funds or a marketing plan. Their early model relied on L’Équipe’s scores, but the outlet forced them to stop in 2013. After expanding internationally in 2016 under names like My Little Nuts (UK) and Mi Gran Delantera (Spain), they secured a €1 million investment in 2018 from backers including Sébastien Bazin, Martin Solveig, and Jean-Étienne Amaury. This funding allowed them to quit their jobs and rebrand. In 2022, Mon Petit Gazon was acquired by LFP MEDIA for an estimated €20–30 million. Since June 11, MPP has seen unprecedented growth, with downloads surging 340% in eight days, topping app store charts.
