Gabon Cracks Down on Child Labor Rings in Libreville

The Gabonese government has launched a nationwide crackdown on child labor rings in the capital city of Libreville.

A joint operation involving the ministry of justice, security forces, and social affairs has been deployed in major commercial zones and markets to target child laborers.

Child Labor Treated as Economic Necessity

Gladys Victoire Maganga, director of social affairs and youth protection, says the government must take a firm stance against child labor.

The operation aims to dismantle child labor networks and bring perpetrators to justice, while providing support for children who have been exploited.

Targeting Child Labor Networks

The authorities will conduct a nationwide survey to identify child labor networks and their mechanisms of operation.
