Madagascar’s leader colonel michaël randrianirina concludes Libreville official visit
On the second day of his official visit to Libreville, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, embarked on a comprehensive tour of several of the Gabonese capital’s most distinguished landmarks this past Saturday, June 6. Accompanied by Vice-President Hermann Immongault, the Malagasy dignitary explored the modern Cité Émeraude, the picturesque Baie des Rois, and the prominent Cité de la Démocratie. Within the impressive Cité de la Démocratie complex, Colonel Randrianirina specifically visited the grand banquet hall, the expansive Palais des Congrès, and the revered Omar Bongo Ondimba museum.
Following what he characterized as a “tourist marathon,” the Malagasy leader shared his conviction that the developments he observed in Gabon signify a dynamic and transforming Africa. He articulated that these significant achievements vividly illustrate the unwavering commitment of African leaders to modernize their respective nations and accelerate their developmental trajectories. “Everything I have witnessed in Gabon,” he declared, “exemplifies the determination of numerous African presidents to modernize and advance their countries and the broader African continent.” While acknowledging that a direct, identical replication of the Gabonese model would not be practical due to differing national contexts and that “processes are not the same,” Colonel Michaël Randrianirina nevertheless lauded the substantial progress achieved by the Gabonese authorities during their period of Transition.
He noted that several of Gabon’s accomplishments, initially perceived as formidable or even unattainable within such a condensed timeframe, have indeed been successfully realized. Consequently, Colonel Randrianirina affirmed his intention to glean invaluable insights from the Gabonese experience, aiming to bolster the ongoing refoundation process underway in Madagascar.
“We will endeavor, as you mentioned earlier, to learn from Gabon to successfully guide Madagascar’s refoundation process, ensuring the country can hold presidential elections as swiftly as possible,” he emphasized. His clearly stated objective is to steer Madagascar towards a presidential election without undue delay. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina concluded his visit and departed Libreville yesterday morning.
