Spanning an impressive 5,200 square meters, the Mohammed VI Professional Training Center in Bamako delivers targeted vocational education designed to meet the evolving demands of Mali’s job market. This state-of-the-art facility is poised to become a cornerstone for skill development across the nation.

Mamary Diarra, the National Director of Tourism, emphasized the profound significance of this initiative. He highlighted the “outstanding collaboration between the states of Mali and Morocco,” noting that “this generous donation from His Majesty Mohammed VI is a clear testament to the strong understanding and friendship shared by the two countries.” Diarra further explained that the center will provide crucial training for young Malians right here in Bamako, equipped with modern classrooms, mock restaurants, and simulated hotel environments. He proudly declared it “a remarkable acquisition for the Malian state.”

Once fully operational, this significant infrastructure will accommodate nearly 1,000 trainees annually, offering programs across 21 specialized fields. These include 12 streams focused on construction and public works trades, alongside 9 dedicated to the thriving tourism, hospitality, and catering sectors.

Mamadou Minkoro Traoré, President of the Permanent Assembly of Chambers of Trades of Mali (APCMM), underscored the vital importance of having such a professional training center within the country. He noted that it provides the opportunity “to train our youth locally,” eliminating the need for trainees to travel to Morocco for specialized education. This establishment, he added, not only guarantees high-quality training but also significantly reduces the travel and accommodation expenses for students.

Mamadou Traoré, a high fashion and styling promoter from Balimaya, who himself received training in Morocco, highlighted Mali’s urgent need for skilled human resources in critical development sectors. He praised the center’s timely launch, expressing gratitude to the Moroccan authorities for this gift to Mali. Traoré asserted that the center will empower young Malians to “learn a trade and avoid risky ventures,” thereby playing a crucial role in combating youth unemployment.

During the official handover of the facility to Malian authorities last July, Oumou Sall Seck, the Malian Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training, emphasized that this initiative directly addresses a strategic need for Mali. It aims to foster skill development and strengthen human capital in areas essential for the nation’s economic and social progress.
