Morocco boosts women’s employment with world bank partnership

The Moroccan government has entered into a strategic partnership with the World Bank, aiming to propel the next phase of economic growth through inclusive development initiatives. During the announcement, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, underscored the critical role of job creation for young people and women, both in urban centers and rural communities.

«This partnership represents a landmark moment for Morocco,» stated Nadia Fettah. «Its defining feature is its structured approach, uniting public and private financing, expertise, and reforms under a unified vision for the Kingdom’s future.»

The framework is deeply rooted in Morocco’s New Development Model, a strategic roadmap designed to build a more dynamic, equitable, and resilient economy. Addressing the pressing challenge of youth and women’s employment remains a top priority.

key pillars of the initiative

The collaboration outlines three core focus areas to drive progress:

  • Enhancing business competitiveness: Streamlining regulatory hurdles, fostering market competition, and expanding access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Building connected and inclusive territories: Bridging urban-rural divides by improving market access and essential services in both cities and remote areas.
  • Strengthening human capital: Supporting education reforms, expanding universal healthcare, and extending social protection systems.

The World Bank will leverage its tools—loans, technical expertise, and private capital mobilization—to turn these goals into reality.
