During a meeting in Addis Ababa, Morocco’s ambassador and permanent representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Mohamed Arrouchi, sat down with UNECA Executive Secretary Claver Gatete to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the kingdom and the commission.

The talks centered on strengthening ties while highlighting Morocco’s unwavering commitment to Africa’s integration and overall development. Gatete commended Morocco’s role in organizing the 58th session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, held in Tangier from March 28 to April 3. He also acknowledged the kingdom’s ongoing support for UNECA activities.

Gatete praised Morocco’s experience in technical and vocational education and training, describing it as an innovative and integrated model. He noted that this approach effectively connects skills development, new technologies—especially artificial intelligence—and the needs of industrialization. Given Africa’s economic and technological transformations, Gatete argued that this Moroccan model should be widely shared across the continent. He called for greater visibility of Moroccan success stories to encourage the exchange of best practices.

Since the founding of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in 1958, Morocco has actively participated in its work and supported its development programs, thereby contributing to regional cooperation and accelerating economic integration across the continent.
