With the inaugural national congress of PASTEF scheduled for June 6, 2026, less than three weeks away, the leader of the Patriots convened his inner circle for a pivotal strategic session. Key figures from both the administration and the party were present, including El Malick Ndiaye, Birame Souleye Diop, Yassine Fall, Daouda Ngom, and Ayib Daffé.


The primary aim of this closed-door gathering was clear: to ignite a comprehensive mobilization effort and consolidate the political machinery around the core leadership as this decisive turning point approached.
 

Discussions during the meeting primarily focused on the extensive restructuring of the governing party, alongside the logistical and political preparations for the congress itself. While Diamniadio is widely anticipated to host the significant event, the true strategic maneuvers are unfolding behind the scenes.


Ousmane Sonko is intent on formalizing the internal reorganizations initiated in April, which saw the appointment of four new vice-presidents and the strategic repositioning of long-standing loyalists. The Prime Minister aims to forge a more transparent and disciplined party structure, one capable of robustly supporting government actions, particularly in addressing the nation’s pressing economic challenges.

 

To underscore this renewed phase of grassroots engagement, Ousmane Sonko issued a distinct directive to his lieutenants, encapsulated in a meaningful Wolof expression: « Yokk thiéré doli gnekh » (to enhance quantity and enrich the flavor). This call signifies a massive intensification of the movement’s dynamic. The current mandate is to reach every corner of Sénégal, including its most remote regions, to re-energize the militant base.
