The Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, welcomed a delegation from the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) on Monday, July 13. The high-level meeting was led by Rosario Mbasogo Kung, the current Chairperson of the organization’s Council of Ministers.

During the discussions, Chad formally presented its new leadership team within the CEEAC Commission, led by Ambassador Ezéchiel Nibigira (President) and Ambassador Mariam Mahamat Nour (Vice-President).

A key outcome of the audience was N’Djamena’s commitment to settling all outstanding financial obligations to the Community. The Chadian Head of State instructed his cabinet to clear the country’s arrears to the CEEAC budget, ensuring timely and consistent fulfillment of financial commitments moving forward.

“The President has directed the Government to settle Chad’s outstanding contributions to the Community and to ensure strict compliance with financial obligations,” stated an official communiqué, emphasizing Chad’s dedication to the smooth functioning of the regional body.

Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno used the opportunity to reaffirm Chad’s unwavering support for the CEEAC, praising the organization’s role in facilitating transitions in Chad and Gabon that restored constitutional order. He reassured that Chad remains steadfast in providing political, economic, and financial backing to the institution.

The CEEAC representatives outlined their mandate priorities and the key challenges facing the organization, including accelerating economic integration across Central Africa. Key focus areas include boosting intra-regional trade, improving transport infrastructure, facilitating free movement of people and goods, and strengthening the free trade zone.

Rosario Mbasogo Kung welcomed Chad’s assurances and underscored that the success of CEEAC depends equally on institutional actions and member states’ commitment to fostering a Central Africa defined by peace, integration, prosperity, and solidarity.
