UK eyes stronger ties with Morocco as key strategic partner
London seeks to double trade volume with Rabat in the coming years
The United Kingdom is positioning itself to elevate its relationship with Morocco to a strategic partnership level, following a high-level visit by Chris Bryant, UK Minister of State for International Trade, to Rabat this week.
During discussions with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Bryant highlighted the current trade volume between the two nations at approximately £4.5 billion. He expressed the UK’s ambition to double this figure within the next five to seven years, underscoring Morocco’s role as a land of untapped opportunities for British businesses.
The minister also emphasized the UK’s eagerness to collaborate with Morocco as a strategic partner in hosting major sporting events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Bryant, accompanied by over 50 companies specializing in international sports event management, is in Morocco for the Morocco-UK Business Forum, taking place on June 2-3, 2026.
Additionally, the two countries are set to hold the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council, further solidifying their growing partnership.
