Un condemns deadly terror attacks in Mali
The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the recent deadly terror attacks that struck several regions of Mali, labeling them as “heinous and cowardly acts of terrorism.”
In a statement released by the executive body of the UN, members emphasized that terrorism in any form remains one of the most severe threats to international peace and security. The attacks, which occurred on April 25 and again on May 6, resulted in numerous casualties and injuries, prompting urgent global concern.
The Council’s response was unequivocal, calling for the immediate apprehension and prosecution of all those responsible—whether perpetrators, organizers, financiers, or masterminds—behind these brutal assaults.
Global Call for Accountability
Reaffirming their stance, the fifteen members of the Security Council underscored that all acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of motive, location, timing, or perpetrator. They stressed the critical need for all nations to unite in combating this scourge, strictly adhering to the principles outlined in the UN Charter and other international legal obligations.
The international community’s resolve remains unwavering: no justification exists for such violence, and every effort must be made to dismantle the networks that fuel terrorism and destabilize regions.
Commitment to Peace and Security
This latest condemnation follows a pattern of global condemnations of terror-related violence in Mali, where civilian populations continue to bear the brunt of relentless attacks. The Security Council’s message is clear: terrorism will not go unanswered, and justice must prevail for the victims and their families.
