Un security council denounces Mali terrorist assaults
The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the horrific extremist assaults perpetrated by jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda across Mali since April 25. The international body explicitly called for all individuals responsible for these atrocities to be brought before justice.
In a statement released on Friday, the Council underscored the urgent imperative of holding accountable the direct perpetrators, masterminds, facilitators, and financial backers behind these reprehensible acts of terror.
Mali currently grapples with profound instability following an unprecedented wave of assaults launched on April 25 and 26. These coordinated operations targeted key strategic positions held by the ruling junta, which has been in power since 2020, impacting vital urban centers and tragically resulting in the death of the nation’s defense minister.
