At Cameroon’s National Assembly, Secretary-General André Noël Essian has sworn in over 20 high-ranking officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
Following the opening of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, Secretary-General André Noël Essian led the swearing-in ceremony for more than 20 senior officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
These key appointments were made within the offices of the Quaestor and the General Secretariat of the National Assembly. With this ceremony, the newly appointed officials officially assume their roles in the country’s legislative body.
Since his election as President of the National Assembly in March, Deputy Théodore Datouo has carried out numerous appointments. However, these decisions have sparked mixed reactions among the public. Critics argue that Datouo, who succeeded Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, failed to consider regional balance when making these appointments.
