The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a pivotal national workshop on Thursday, July 10, 2026, in N’Djamena to validate the ground-level analysis report. This critical document will shape the upcoming National Strategy for the Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Chad.

This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for the Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by major continental bodies including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its goal? To modernize Chad’s technical and vocational education on a sustainable basis, ensuring alignment with global technological advancements and evolving job market demands.

The preliminary study engaged over 200 stakeholders from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTPs) and supervisory structures across all academic regions of Chad. Data was gathered through extensive field missions and digital surveys, providing a comprehensive snapshot of the current landscape.

Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the session on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation, highlighting its role in reshaping education systems to meet technological and occupational shifts. The government’s vision, he noted, positions digitalization as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET in Chad.

While the analysis reveals significant progress, it also underscores critical challenges. These include governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, limited connectivity, unreliable power supply, insufficient trainer capacities, and the slow integration of digital skills into curricula. Dr. Gabriel urged participants to refine the report, ensuring the resulting strategy is pragmatic, inclusive, and reflective of Chad’s unique context.

Once finalized, the validated report will serve as the foundation for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan for 2026–2030. The ultimate aim is to equip Chad with a dynamic, high-performing technical education system that meets the evolving demands of the labor market.
