Libya Announces Vast Border Patrol Operation

The Libyan government has announced a sweeping border patrol operation in the southern region, aimed at strengthening security and combating irregular immigration.

Colonel Ahmed Abu Qila, commander of desert patrols in the region, has stated that the operation will be carried out from Sebha and Umm al-Aranib, passing through Qatrun, Dahaan Murzuq, and Tajarhi, to the border with Chad.

The operation is part of an effort to determine itineraries and establish a future strategy, as well as create a security post in the ‘zone frontalière 17’.

Abu Qila has emphasized that the General Command is providing primary support to the Agency for Counter-Migration, recognizing the gravity of the irregular immigration crisis as a national security issue.

The commander has also highlighted the importance of the Vice-Commander General’s support and equipment in improving work and increasing efficiency on the ground.

In addition, Abu Qila noted that signing agreements with friendly countries and importing advanced equipment will bolster efforts to combat traffickers and transfrontier gangs.
