Under the guidance of a visionary monarch, Morocco has emerged as a ‘model of success’ in both politics and economics on a continental and regional level, according to Ilan Berman, vice-president of the American Foreign Policy Council at Washington.

‘It’s a remarkable evolution. Today, Morocco clearly presents itself as a model: an economic model and a political model not only at the regional level but also at the African level,’ explained Mr. Berman in a statement to MAP on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.

According to him, Morocco is making steady progress on the path to success thanks to the vision of the king and the coherence of the strategies implemented under his leadership.

The vice-president of the American Foreign Policy Council also estimated that Morocco, under the visionary leadership of the monarch, will benefit even more from these advancements and progress achieved over the past two decades. ‘There will be challenges to overcome, but this perceptive vision will always be very valuable,’ he continued.

Regarding the Morocco-US relations, which mark this year’s 250th anniversary of their establishment, Mr. Berman highlighted the ‘extensity, depth, and dynamism’ of this strategic and unique relationship.

In a rapidly evolving global context, the partnership between Rabat and Washington, which is expected to be strengthened even further, ‘can truly yield significant gains,’ he said.

‘Significant gains not only for Morocco in the context of its African strategy but also for the United States in terms of their foreign policy priorities abroad,’ concluded the expert US.
