A high-ranking military delegation from Morocco, led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a significant two-day working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday.

Upon arrival in Nouakchott, the Moroccan delegation was welcomed by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani at the Presidential Palace. The meeting took place in the presence of Ambassador Hamid Chabar, Morocco’s top diplomat in Mauritania, as confirmed by an official statement from the Royal Armed Forces.

The same day, General Berrid paid a formal visit to the Ministry of Defense, where he was received by Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a symbolic gesture, the Mauritanian minister presented the Moroccan general with the National Order of Merit (Commander Grade) on behalf of the President of the Republic.

Later in the afternoon, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. During the discussions, both sides highlighted the strong and fruitful cooperation between their armed forces, calling it a model of strategic partnership in the region.
