Led by the Inspector General of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR), General Mohammed Berrid, a high-ranking military delegation concluded a productive working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday. The visit kicked off with a meeting between General Berrid and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott, where the two leaders discussed bilateral defense cooperation and regional security challenges.

During the same day, General Berrid paid a courtesy call to Mauritania’s Ministry of Defense, where he was received by Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a formal ceremony, the Mauritanian Defense Minister presented General Berrid with the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit, a prestigious recognition awarded on behalf of the Mauritanian Head of State.

Later in the afternoon, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Morocco-Mauritania Joint Military Commission. The two-day discussions centered on strengthening military ties, sharing best practices, and exploring new avenues for joint operations and capacity-building initiatives.

At the close of the commission meeting, both sides expressed strong satisfaction with the progress achieved through their ongoing defense partnership. They highlighted the tangible outcomes of their collaboration, which continues to serve as a benchmark for strategic military cooperation in the region.
