At the heart of regional military collaboration, a high-profile Moroccan delegation led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a significant visit to Nouakchott this week. The delegation was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani, accompanied by Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar.

During the same day, General Berrid visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he engaged in productive discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. The minister honored the visiting general with the Ordre National du Mérite at the rank of Commander, a gesture symbolizing the deep ties between the two nations.

Following these engagements, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Mixed Military Commission. Discussions centered on reviewing the progress of bilateral military cooperation, with both sides highlighting the tangible outcomes achieved through their strategic partnership.
