Forum pharmaceutique international : N'Djamena au cœur de la santé africaine

Chad’s capital is hosting the 25th edition of the International Pharmaceutical Forum, a significant gathering of experts, healthcare professionals, and delegates from various African nations. Under the theme of strengthening healthcare access, the event aims to boost local medicine production and tackle challenges in the continent’s pharmaceutical sector.

On behalf of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Mr. Allah Maye Halina, extended a warm welcome to all delegations from friendly and brotherly countries present in N’Djamena. He emphasized that their attendance honors Chad and reflects a shared commitment to enhancing health cooperation.

It is with genuine pleasure that the Republic of Chad hosts this 25th edition, having previously held the 13th edition. This gathering provides a privileged platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and finding solutions to today’s health challenges. The International Pharmaceutical Forum is not merely a scientific exchange space; it also serves as a framework for guiding public policy. The discussions and recommendations that emerge here must translate into concrete actions benefiting the population.

The Prime Minister stressed the urgent need to build an Africa capable of producing more medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and other essential health products to meet the needs of its people. He also reminded that the Chadian government continues its efforts to strengthen the health system, improve access to care, and consolidate national pharmaceutical capacities.

For his part, the Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Dr. Abdelmadjid Abderahim Mahamat, noted that this forum offers a unique platform to exchange ideas, share experiences, and forge lasting partnerships. According to him, participants must work together to identify concrete solutions for overcoming challenges related to access to quality medicines, pharmaceutical regulation, training, and innovation.

Speaking on behalf of Inter-Order, Mr. Laroussi Mustapha pointed out that the opening of this 25th edition, under the theme “Strengthening access to healthcare: opportunities and challenges of local manufacturing and hospital pharmacy,” holds particular significance. He highlighted that the theme goes to the heart of their mission, because behind every medicine is a patient, behind every pharmacy a family, and behind every decision a human life. He also reminded that hospital pharmacy is an essential link in the safety and quality of care, and a genuine source of hope for populations.

This high-level meeting thus offers pharmaceutical sector actors a special opportunity to collectively reflect on strategies for sustainably improving access to care and strengthening the health sovereignty of African countries.
