Niger invests in economic future with 2026 investment forum launch

The Nigerien government has taken a decisive step toward boosting the nation’s economic prospects by establishing the official organizing committee for the Invest in Niger Forum 2026. Scheduled to take place in Niamey from November 24 to 26, the event is designed to showcase the country’s vast economic potential to both domestic and foreign investors.

With the countdown now officially underway, the newly formed committee has been tasked with transforming the forum into a high-impact platform for economic diplomacy. Speaking at the committee’s inauguration, Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, Minister of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the transformative role this gathering will play in shaping the country’s economic trajectory.

Demanding excellence in execution

The minister urged committee members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, adhere strictly to timelines, and foster seamless collaboration among all stakeholders. This rigorous approach is essential to meet the forum’s ambitious goals, which extend beyond national borders. The event will welcome high-profile guest countries, including Turkey, China, and Russia, as well as special delegates from across Africa and beyond.

A broad diplomatic mobilization

The forum will also welcome delegations from Burkina Faso and Mali, key partners within the Sahel States Confederation (AES), alongside representatives from Togo, Ghana, Chad, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, India, and Saudi Arabia.

Structured governance through four specialized subcommittees

The ad hoc committee comprises experts from various ministries and professional bodies, organized into four specialized subcommittees, each assigned a distinct mandate:

  • Scientific

  • Logistics, exhibition, protocol, and security

  • Communication and institutional coordination

  • Investment project selection and promotion

The committee’s responsibilities include defining the event’s organizational strategy, developing the program of activities, curating bankable projects for investor presentations, and ensuring the forum’s visibility at both national and international levels.

Positioning Niger as a prime investment destination

Beyond logistical arrangements, this initiative reflects a broader political vision. The Refoundation authorities aim to revitalize the national economy and position Niger as a strategic and preferential destination for private, regional, and international capital. The Invest in Niger Forum stands as a key diplomatic and economic tool in this strategy, particularly as regional countries seek to diversify their economic partnerships.

With just over four months remaining, the newly appointed committee faces the challenge of turning this ambitious roadmap into a reality—one that meets the high expectations set by the government.
