Nourane Foster leaves PCRN with immediate effect
Nourane Foster is no longer a member of the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN). The Member of Parliament for Wouri-East announced her resignation from the party led by Cabral Libii in a formal letter, citing deep ideological differences and a breakdown of trust.
In the letter addressed to Cabral Libii, Foster confirmed that her departure takes effect immediately. The decision marks a definitive break between the prominent opposition figure and the party she helped build.
Why she resigned: trust erosion and political disagreements
Foster pointed to what she described as an erosion of confidence and profound disagreements over the party’s political direction. She specifically denounced personal attacks she faced after accepting an invitation from First Lady Chantal Biya, and criticised the party leadership for failing to support her during that period.
In her resignation letter, Foster wrote: “I refuse to let community belonging become a criterion for political legitimacy, or for a citizen to be considered a foreigner in part of his own country. This is a matter of conviction, dignity and loyalty to the idea I have of our Republic.”
She made clear that she leaves the PCRN without hatred or any desire for revenge.
Political implications ahead of 2027 elections
The resignation comes as political parties in Cameroon prepare for municipal and legislative elections scheduled for 2027. Foster’s exit opens a new chapter for the parliamentarian, who has yet to announce her next political move.
Her departure raises questions about the PCRN’s internal cohesion and the broader balance of Cameroon’s opposition landscape as the electoral calendar approaches.
