The Minister of Living Environment and Transport, Georges Alé, recently conducted a comprehensive inspection tour of three critical sites involved in Bénin’s national road network modernization. His visit underscored a firm commitment to technical excellence, environmental protection, public health considerations, and strict adherence to contractual deadlines for these significant infrastructure projects.

The ministerial delegation’s first stop was at the Djonou bridge, located within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this crucial location, the essential dredging operations have been successfully brought to completion. This vital intervention has effectively cleared the waterway, ensuring improved stormwater evacuation and enhancing the overall safety and resilience of the structure.

Minister Alé then proceeded to inspect the ongoing development of the 2×2 lane section connecting Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2), a project being executed by the SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP consortium. While commending the encouraging progress and dynamic pace of the work, Georges Alé strongly reiterated the imperative of scrupulously following the established contractual timeline. The goal is to swiftly provide road users with a modern, secure, and efficient thoroughfare.

The inspection tour concluded at the Allada roundabout and the adjacent water retention basins in the area. Demonstrating a keen focus on sanitation concerns, the minister directed the technical teams to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This proactive partnership aims to anticipate and mitigate any potential health risks that could arise from stagnant water accumulation.
