Benin national assembly convenes for key plenary session this wednesday
Benin’s National Assembly will hold a plenary session this Wednesday, June 24, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo. Several major items are on the agenda for this parliamentary meeting.
The deputies will notably examine the budget orientation debate, a key step in which the government presents the outlines of its fiscal policy before the state budget for the following year is drafted. This discussion helps align legislative priorities with the executive’s financial roadmap.
The session will also focus on a proposed amendment to the law establishing the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic, covering its creation, attributions, organisation and functioning. Additionally, lawmakers are set to appoint representatives of the National Assembly within various institutions as part of their oversight duties.
