Côte d’Ivoire secures record-breaking $80 billion in funding for national development plan
President Alassane Ouattara expressed deep satisfaction with the historic financial mobilization achieved during the recent Consultative Group for the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030, emphasizing the international community’s strong confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic resilience and long-term growth trajectory.
Speaking at the conclusion of the two-day event in Abidjan, held on July 8-9, 2026, he highlighted the unprecedented turnout of over 2,000 investors hailing from 49 nations, all converging to support the country’s ambitious development agenda.
The diverse delegation included top representatives from financial institutions, investment funds, commercial banks, business federations, public and private enterprises, as well as key development partners. Together, they pledged a total of $80 billion in commitments—equivalent to 47,820 billion West African CFA francs—far exceeding the initial target of 11,138.2 billion CFA francs.
The PND 2026-2030 is built on a bold vision: to “Build a Great Nation that is stable, ambitious, and united.” Over the next five years, the plan will mobilize a total investment of 114,838.5 billion CFA francs—approximately $209 billion—with the private sector expected to contribute 70.2%, serving as the driving force behind the nation’s economic and social transformation.
The strategy focuses on six strategic priorities: peace, security, and stability; agriculture and agro-industrial development; private sector growth and industrialization; human capital enhancement; strategic infrastructure; and governance modernization and state reform. Special emphasis will be placed on empowering Ivorian businesses to lead this transformation.
Macroeconomic targets are equally ambitious, aiming to propel Côte d’Ivoire into the ranks of upper-middle-income economies by 2030, with a GDP per capita of $4,500 and a poverty rate below 20%. President Ouattara reiterated that it is the government’s duty to channel this unprecedented financial commitment into tangible benefits for all citizens—more schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, and shared prosperity.
In his closing remarks, he called for unity, confidence, and collective effort, stating: “Together, with determination and solidarity, we will build a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and equitable.”
