Côte d’Ivoire secures record-breaking $80 billion investment pledge for 2026-2030 development plan
Ivorian President hails unprecedented financial mobilization as global partners commit $80 billion to national development
« The international community’s confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic resilience and development trajectory has never been stronger, » declared President Alassane Ouattara following the conclusion of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026-2030 financing roundtable on July 10, 2026.
The two-day event, held in Abidjan on July 8-9, brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 nations, representing financial institutions, investment funds, commercial banks, business associations, public and private enterprises, and development partners at the highest levels.
The unprecedented financial commitments total 80 billion US dollars (47,820 billion F CFA), dwarfing the originally targeted 11,138.2 billion F CFA by nearly four times. This massive injection of capital will fuel Côte d’Ivoire’s ambitious five-year development agenda, which boasts a total investment envelope of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately 209 billion US dollars).
The NDP 2026-2030 outlines six strategic pillars: peace, security and stability; agriculture and agro-industry; private sector development and industrialization; human capital; strategic infrastructure; and good governance with state modernization.
With 70.2% of investments expected to come from the private sector, the plan positions domestic businesses as the driving force behind Côte d’Ivoire’s economic and social transformation. The government will focus on creating an enabling environment for local enterprises to thrive and contribute to the nation’s growth.
Macroeconomic targets are equally ambitious, aiming to elevate Côte d’Ivoire to the rank of upper-middle-income economies by 2030. Key objectives include achieving a GDP per capita of $4,500 and reducing poverty rates to below 20%.
President Ouattara emphasized the government’s commitment to translating these financial commitments into tangible benefits for all Ivorians: « Our duty as a state is to ensure these investments translate into more schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, opportunities, and shared prosperity for every man, woman, and child in Côte d’Ivoire. »
« Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will continue building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and united, » he concluded.
