The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Abidjan on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to attend the 66th anniversary of Côte d’Ivoire’s Independence Day. This official visit underscores the strong bonds of cooperation and brotherhood between Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire.
Warm welcome at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport
Upon landing at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, President Oligui Nguema was greeted by Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nialé Kaba, who represented the Ivorian authorities. The welcoming committee also included high-ranking government officials, diplomats, and members of the Gabonese community residing in Côte d’Ivoire.
Following diplomatic protocol for heads of state, President Oligui Nguema was accorded full military honors. Gabon’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Fabrice Boussougou Boussougou, was present alongside numerous Gabonese nationals who turned out to welcome their leader.
