Mali’s armed forces have declared a renewed upper hand in critical conflict zones, asserting full operational control following intense clashes with armed factions in both the northern and central regions.

The announcement came after days of heavy fighting, particularly in the northeastern sector near Anifif, roughly 110 kilometers south of Kidal. Military reinforcements had arrived to support the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA), prompting a robust response from Malian troops who engaged the militants throughout the day with tactical precision and resilience.

In a formal statement, the Malian army highlighted the unwavering determination of its units, emphasizing that they fought with discipline and resolve to counter external pressures. The communiqué firmly reaffirmed confidence in the nation’s defense capabilities, vowing to safeguard Mali’s sovereignty, protect civilians, and dismantle hostile forces threatening the country’s stability.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Front de Libération de l’Azawad contested claims of setbacks, asserting continued influence over Anfif despite the escalation. Spokesperson Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan dismissed reports of leadership losses, confirming that Mbarek Ag Akli remains actively involved in directing military operations across northern Mali.
