Meeting à Linguère : Ousmane Sonko charge lourdement Bassirou Diomaye Faye

Ousmane Sonko captivated a vast assembly of supporters in Linguère, delivering sharp criticism regarding the incumbent president’s governance. He underscored a significant disparity between the populace’s hopes and the prevailing political landscape.

On Saturday, Ousmane Sonko convened a major political gathering in Linguère, drawing an immense crowd of activists eager to back the Pastef leader. In a forceful address, he directly challenged the current Head of State, who had removed him from his Prime Ministerial post just last May.

Senegalese did not fight for this outcome

Addressing an enthusiastic audience, Ousmane Sonko articulated a profound divergence between the foundational principles that propelled their movement into power and the present administration’s actions. In a particularly resonant moment, he emphatically declared: « The people of Sénégal did not cast their votes for this. They did not struggle for this. Lives were not sacrificed for this cause. Individuals did not endure imprisonment for this. The Senegalese people championed a transformation of the system. Yet, today, that very system resides within the presidential palace, actively consolidating its position once more. »

This declaration unequivocally signals a complete break between the Pastef leader and the individual currently holding the highest office. It specifically targets the present government’s management, asserting that it has deviated significantly from the objectives pursued during their time in opposition. Ousmane Sonko, demonstrating clear resolve to challenge the President of Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains in forthcoming electoral contests, expressed absolute confidence in securing a future triumph, irrespective of any political stratagems employed by his adversaries.

« Consequently, I contend that he may align with any mayors or forge alliances with any political factions he desires. My sole appeal is to the populace. For in a democratic framework, there exists but one truth, and that truth resides with the people, » he asserted, speaking directly to his dedicated militants and, by extension, to all citizens of Sénégal.
