At a rally held this Saturday in Bambey, Ousmane Sonko, the leader of the PASTEF party, urged his supporters to remain vigilant in the face of potential provocations aimed at destabilizing the movement. Addressing the crowd, he cautioned that opponents may attempt to trigger reactions through various means, including direct attacks on his person.

Sonko emphasized that some adversaries might exploit state institutions to create unrest, stating, « They will resort to all forms of provocation, and some will target me personally. They will try to weaponize state services against me. »

The PASTEF president warned that certain actors seek to provoke his followers and escalate tensions across the country by focusing their efforts on him, explaining, « Their calculations are clear: to shake PASTEF’s supporters or the nation, they must first go through Sonko. »

During his speech, Sonko also criticized the alleged restrictions imposed on his party’s activities, particularly membership card distribution events. However, he reassured the public that Senegal will not revert to the recent periods of heightened instability, vowing to safeguard the country’s peace.

« Senegal will not endure another dark chapter as it did recently, as long as I am here, » he declared. « No manipulation will succeed. »

The address comes amid a shifting political landscape, following the launch of the new presidential party led by Bassirou Diomaye Faye and ongoing discussions about the future of Senegal’s political forces.
