President diomaye faye unveils kiiraay: the republican patriots in Sénégal

Sénégal’s political landscape witnessed a significant development this Saturday afternoon, July 25, with the official unveiling of a new political party: «Kiiraay: les patriotes républicains». This nascent movement, presented by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye himself, articulates a profound mission: to safeguard the Republic of Sénégal, its foundational institutions, and the cherished ancestral values passed down through generations. The party aims to rekindle hope across all segments of the Senegalese populace, striving for a unified national future.

Addressing an enthusiastic assembly of militants and sympathizers, President Faye transformed into a compelling political leader for the afternoon. The sheer volume of attendees at the King Fahd Palace was remarkable; many were compelled to follow the address from a large tent erected on the hotel’s forecourt, unable to fit into the main hall. During his speech, the head of the “Diomaye Président” coalition underscored the paramount importance of placing the nation above any partisan divisions or personal aspirations. He powerfully asserted that while individuals may find themselves political adversaries on one day, they inherently remain brothers every single day, emphasizing a message of enduring national kinship.

Seizing the moment, the President also directed pointed remarks toward unnamed political opponents. He declared unequivocally that “henceforth, no warmonger will be able to disrupt the peace of the Senegalese people or their commitment to serving the Republic.” These strong words were widely interpreted by many party activists as a direct challenge to Ousmane Sonko, his former political ally and the current President of the National Assembly, signaling a potential shift in their political dynamic.
