Meeting between Bassirou Diomaye and BERD leadership

During a strategic meeting in Dakar, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye welcomed a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD), led by its President Odile Renaud-Basso. Discussions centered on ongoing and future projects aligned with Senegal’s Vision 2050 development roadmap.

Key initiatives shaping Senegal’s infrastructure future

The BERD has already made significant strides in Senegal, deploying local teams to drive projects across critical sectors. Its portfolio includes financing for water infrastructure, renewable energy, and private sector growth.

Water security for Greater Dakar

A flagship project involves a desalination plant developed in partnership with ACWA Power, designed to bolster water supply for the Dakar metropolitan area and reduce pressure on existing freshwater resources.

Renewable energy and private sector support

The BERD is also prioritizing investments in renewable energy, supporting solar, wind, and other clean energy initiatives. Additionally, it is strengthening its role in financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to drive economic diversification and job creation.

During the meeting, BERD officials reaffirmed their commitment to expanding operations in Senegal, emphasizing alignment with national priorities such as energy transition, infrastructure resilience, and private sector empowerment.
