Ahmat Bedei Toullomi, the president of the Borkou Provincial Council, was taken into custody late Thursday afternoon in N’Djamena and transferred to the General Coordination of the Judicial Police, according to security sources.

The arrest occurred at the premises of the La Résidence hotel just before 5:00 PM. It follows a legal complaint filed for defamation and public insults, which triggered the judicial investigation.

Investigative documents reveal that the complaint was lodged by Goudje Gueillet Hemchi and Kodou Omari, who allege that Ahmat Bedei Toullomi disseminated false accusations on social media. Specifically, he claimed they were involved in a cocaine trafficking ring operating in Chad.

The complainants have vehemently denied these allegations, labeling them as « completely false, baseless, and slanderous. » They argue that the accusations have severely damaged their personal and professional reputations.

Legal proceedings and procedural background

A warrant for Ahmat Bedei Toullomi’s arrest was issued on August 4, 2026, by the prosecutor’s office near the N’Djamena Court of First Instance. The document required his presence to address the allegations levelled against him.

According to verified accounts, the president of the Borkou Provincial Council had previously been summoned multiple times but failed to appear. After more than ten days of unanswered summons, law enforcement authorities proceeded with his arrest to ensure compliance with the judicial process.

Shortly after his detention, a statement was posted on his Facebook page at 5:10 PM: « Either the Marshal stands with us all, or the traffickers are stronger than the law. I’ve been abducted. »
