UN system commits 10.5 billion CFA francs to Gabon in 2025
The United Nations System in Gabon has mobilized 10.5 billion CFA francs (approximately 18.5 million US dollars) in 2025, marking its first major financial commitment under the leadership of Resident Coordinator Fatou Aminata Lo, who took office in January. The announcement came during a press briefing held yesterday at the UN common house in Libreville, where the annual activity report was presented alongside a call for stronger collaboration with media on the path toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the upcoming 2028-2032 framework.
Flanked by agency heads, Lo underscored the broader purpose of the funding: “Our contribution is not measured solely by the number of projects completed, but also by our ability to bring actors together and support the transformation of public policies into tangible results for the population.”

The funds were channeled through 21 UN entities and nearly 300 staff members, 70 percent of whom are Gabonese nationals. Three strategic priorities guided the allocation: promoting good governance and human rights, advancing the transition to a green and blue economy, and fostering equal opportunity and social inclusion.
