Côte d’Ivoire’s PPA-CI undergoes leadership restructuring under Gbagbo

Côte d’Ivoire — The PPA-CI (Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire) has entered a new phase with a reshuffled leadership team, as announced by former President Laurent Gbagbo through an official statement. The move reflects a strategic shift toward a more collaborative governance model within the political party.

Effective immediately, five key figures have been appointed to share decision-making responsibilities, each assigned specific roles to strengthen the party’s operational framework and strategic direction.

New leadership roles and responsibilities

The restructuring introduces a collective leadership approach, with each appointee tasked with distinct but complementary functions:

• Assoa Adou takes on the role of First Vice-President, overseeing party statutes, internal regulations, and ensuring alignment between the party’s structures and its core principles. His mandate includes enforcing compliance with the party’s foundational documents.
• Oulaye Hubert, the Second Vice-President, is responsible for the party’s internal life. He will preside over Central Committee sessions according to the party’s statutes and internal rules.
• Ackan Emmanuel, the Third Vice-President, focuses on animating the party’s activities. His role involves energizing political operations and enhancing the party’s visibility. He also manages relations with national institutions, adhering to the party’s established guidelines.
• Justin Koné Katinan, the Fourth Vice-President, is entrusted with the party’s general policy. He will coordinate, oversee, and implement the party’s political agenda, including government program initiatives.
• Sébastien Dano Djedje has been appointed as President of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP). He will assume delegated authority for the party’s overall management and training activities.

The announcement emphasizes that this reorganization is designed to foster a more inclusive and effective leadership structure. Laurent Gbagbo highlighted the importance of collective strength, stating that the party’s success depends on unified action rather than individual leadership.

The decision to restructure the party’s leadership was first unveiled on May 16 during the celebration of the PPA-CI Renaissance Day in Songon M’Bratté. The move aims to enhance the party’s functionality, efficiency, and capacity to execute its political mission.

Gbagbo underscored the significance of this leadership model, asserting that the party’s resilience and progress stem from collaborative efforts. «The strength of our party lies not in a single individual but in the collective dedication of its leaders and members,» he remarked.

This restructuring signals a new chapter for the PPA-CI, positioning it to navigate contemporary political challenges with a more dynamic and structured approach.
