After weeks of unrest on the Lomé campus, a resolution has finally been reached. The government has officially announced the promotion of 107 public university lecturers to the rank of Professeurs Titulaires during a recent Council of Ministers meeting.

The culmination of academic dedication

This batch of promotions follows a protest staged by teacher-researchers on July 2 at the University of Lomé. By elevating these academics to the highest teaching hierarchy, authorities aim to acknowledge outstanding scientific contributions and pedagogical excellence at both the University of Lomé and the University of Kara.

« These promotions will enhance the teaching, research, and mentoring capacities of public universities, further elevating the prestige of Togolese higher education. »
