The 27th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day was marked by a significant diplomatic gesture as King Mohammed VI received a message from U.S. President Donald Trump. In his communication, Trump reaffirmed Washington’s firm backing for Rabat’s position regarding Western Sahara, specifically endorsing the Moroccan autonomy plan as the most viable pathway to a lasting resolution.

«The United States stands firm in recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara and endorses the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a serious, credible, and realistic foundation for a just and sustainable solution,» Trump stated in the letter.

He emphasized that alternative approaches merely perpetuate the existing deadlock and deemed them «unacceptable.» Trump stressed the urgency of resolving the dispute, asserting that the U.S. would continue to drive progress toward a conclusive outcome.
