N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has rolled out its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a decisive step toward reshaping the future of the country’s youngest generation. During a high-profile press conference in the capital, the organization unveiled plans to impact 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable communities. The initiative integrates humanitarian aid, long-term development, and peacebuilding into a unified approach designed to address the root causes of hardship affecting children across Tchad.

Building resilience through integrated solutions

The strategy, launched at the Hôtel Résidence in N’Djamena, was described by Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa, as both audacious and groundbreaking. She emphasized that the approach—known as the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus—connects immediate relief efforts with sustainable growth initiatives and conflict resolution mechanisms. « Children in Tchad deserve more than survival—they deserve the chance to thrive, » she stated, underlining the need for strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity in implementation.

Denizard also highlighted Tchad’s complex challenges: deep-rooted poverty, climate-induced displacement, and recurring humanitarian crises. Against this backdrop, World Vision’s new roadmap aligns with continental and global agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Tchad’s Vision 2030. Priority areas include maternal and child health, climate-resilient agriculture, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program, and child protection systems strengthened to shield young lives from violence and exploitation.

A 20% increase in ambition

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy a « historic milestone » for the organization and the nation. He noted that the plan represents a 20% increase in scope compared to the previous cycle, with the goal of reaching 3.29 million children—3.09 million of whom live in precarious conditions. « Our mission is clear: every child in Tchad should not just survive, but flourish, » he declared.

With nearly 42% of Tchadians living below the poverty line, the need for such an initiative is urgent. The strategy prioritizes integrated health and nutrition programs, climate adaptation support, and education reforms to ensure children gain foundational literacy skills early in life. Wangoy stressed that success hinges on collective action, calling on government agencies, financial partners, civil society, religious leaders, and media outlets to collaborate closely.

Uniting stakeholders for a sustainable future

At the close of the event, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a united appeal to all national actors. They urged stakeholders to pool resources, expertise, and influence to turn current challenges into lasting opportunities for children. The strategy’s ultimate aim is to contribute directly to Tchad’s Vision 2030 and the global SDGs, fostering a nation where every child is safeguarded, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
