Chad enforces ban on military-style attire for forestry agents

In a decisive move to streamline operational protocols, the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development has issued a formal directive prohibiting agents of the water and forestry services from wearing military-style uniforms, insignia, or any other attributes associated with the Chadian National Army (ANT).

The circular, signed by Secretary-General Koularambaye Koundja Julien on July 6, 2026, addresses concerns over the unauthorized use of military gear by certain agents—both those transferred from military roles and civilian personnel—who have been observed donning uniforms and insignia exclusive to the ANT.

Violations of this directive will result in disciplinary action. Heads of central and regional services are tasked with ensuring strict compliance, with the ban taking immediate effect.
